The Indigenous Resource Centre (IRC) is a culturally safe space which offers a variety of programs and supports designed with First Nations, Inuit and Métis learners in mind. It is a place where you can work, meet your peers or learn from our staff and visiting elders and traditional knowledge keepers.

Wabano

They are rooted in culture and serve Indigenous people of every background and stage of life, Wabano is more than a health centre.

Minwaashin Lodge

(613-789-1141) – 24/7 crisis line. They provide a range of programs and services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis women and children (regardless of status) who are survivors of domestic and other forms of violence, and who may also be suffering the effects of the residential school system. All programs and services are provided in the context of cultural beliefs and values to ensure a holistic approach is used as part of the healing journey.

Kagita Mikam – Aboriginal Employment & Training

(613-962-3103) – They offer a number of different employment and training programs available for both employers and registered clients, (certain eligibility criteria may apply).

Gignul Non-Profit Housing Corporation

They provide a holistic and comprehensive approach to housing that includes both Indigenous people at risk of losing their housing, or those who are currently homeless.

Tungasuvvingat Inuit

(613-565-5885) – They offer programs that are available free of charge for urban Inuit in Ontario.

Inuuqatigiit

(613-744-3133) – The Inuuqatigiit Centre provides programming for Inuit Children, Youth and Families. In partnership with parents and the community, Inuuqatigiit Centre fosters strong and proud Inuit children, youth and families.

Tewegan Housing

(613-233-0672) – Tewegan Housing is for Indigenous Youth, they provide a variety of services to their residents.

Odawa Native Friendship Centre

(613-233-0672) – They try to enhance the quality of life of Indigenous people in the Capital Region. They try to maintain a tradition of community, an ethic of self-help, development, as well as providing traditional teachings from elders.

Makonsag Aboriginal Head Start

(613-724-5844) – Makonsag Aboriginal Head Start provides a culturally-enriched preschool environment that fosters early learning and enhances pride through education to ensure that Indigenous children and their families have positive lifelong experiences as members of Indigenous communities.
